Memorandum of Cooperation Signed between EKKOMED and the Athens Epidaurus Festival

On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED) and the Athens Epidaurus Festival.

This agreement marks a new and dynamic partnership aimed at strengthening and promoting contemporary artistic creation through the tools of cinema and modern digital media.

The cooperation includes, among other initiatives, the support and promotion of a documentary dedicated to the 70-year history of the Athens Epidaurus Festival, as part of this year’s anniversary celebrations, as well as support for the production and distribution of filmed landmark performances from the Festival. These recordings aim to be distributed through Greek and international networks and platforms.

The Memorandum was signed by Mr. Leonidas Christopoulos, CEO of EKKOMED, and Mr. Dimitris Passas, President of the Athens Epidaurus Festival. Also present at the signing were, on behalf of the Festival, General Director, Mr. Ioannis Kaplanis and Communications Director, Ms. Maria Panagiotopoulou, and on behalf of EKKOMED, Administrative Advisor, Mr. Achilleas Tsoutsis.

Mr. Christopoulos stated:
“EKKOMED and the Athens Epidaurus Festival are two public institutions faithfully serving Greek culture. Our collaboration lays the groundwork for joint policies that support contemporary cultural creation and highlight our national heritage at both the national and international level.”

Mr. Passas noted:
“This partnership reinforces the Festival’s timeless role as a bridge between tradition and contemporary creation. Through joint initiatives such as the anniversary documentary and support for our recorded productions, we are investing in the international promotion of Greek culture and in broadening our audience.”
