Maria Pagoni

Investment Program Design and Establishment Manager

My professional journey combines strong academic foundations, extensive administrative experience, and a deep commitment to innovation and sustainable development. I hold a degree in English Language and Literature from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, specializing in Linguistics, followed by postgraduate studies in International Relations in London, and in Translation and Conference Interpreting at the University of Mons in Belgium, both completed with merit. In 2008, I was admitted to the National School of Public Administration and Local Government (ESDDA), Department of Tourism Economics and Development, and from 2010 to 2023 I held a position at the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism.

At this post, I actively contributed to strategic planning and the development of special forms of tourism. From 2021 to 2023, I served as Head of the Department for Special Forms of Tourism, while also managing the national program “Tourism for All” (2022–2025), with a budget of €100 million, aimed at boosting domestic tourism demand through a digital subsidy card. I also participated in the Task Force for the Recovery and Resilience Plan “Greece 2.0” and as Project Manager for the “Health and Wellness Tourism” project.

Since 2023, I have been employed at the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (HFAC), where I initially headed the Department of Audiovisual Heritage & National Digital Repository. I currently hold the position of Head of Planning and Programming Investment Incentives at the Intermediate Managing Authority of the “Competitiveness 2021-2027” NSRF Operational Programme implementing the Cash Rebate Greece (CRGR) project that supports audiovisual production in the film and television industries in Greece.

With a decade-long background as a freelance translator and conference interpreter, I am fluent in English, French, and Spanish, and have studied Japanese and Swedish. I am driven by professionalism, strategic thinking, and a passion for fostering innovative and sustainable growth within Greece’s tourism and creative industries.
