Dimitris Bouras

Audiovisual Cultural Heritage Manager

Dimitris Bouras was born in Kyparissia in 1962. Studied economics at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) and continued his postgraduate studies at the Institute of Regional Development of Panteion University. At the same time, he entered the field of journalism professionally, demonstrating his interest in film and audiovisual creation as a film critic, reporting and researching Greek and international cinema, and writing articles on culture and mass media.

Between 1987 and 2018, he worked for national daily newspapers and magazines, such as Kathimerini, Mesimvrini, and Metro. He contributed articles and studies on cinema to cultural magazines and collective publications.

He has also been a lecturer at the Filmanalysis comparative film analysis seminar and the Movie On film criticism workshop at Faro Creative Learning (2017-2019). The promotion of the richness of Greek and international film heritage, the expansion of the film audience, the sharpening of the audience’s gaze, and the development of critical thinking were among the objectives of these educational activities.

He has participated in selection and jury committees for film festivals, as well as in advisory committee of the Greek Film Centre (GFC) for the financing of completed film projects.

In 2020, when he took over as Head of the GFC Press Office, he began his professional relationship with this organization and subsequently with Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center .

He is a member of the Journalists’ Union of Athens Daily Newspaper and the Hellenic Film Academy.
