The Results of the 8th International Student Competition: “Your Story Is the Story of Your City”

It is with great pleasure that we announce the results of the 8th International Student Competition for Audiovisual and Digital Creation, “Your Story Is the Story of Your City”, an initiative that each year gives students the opportunity to discover the history of their local community and transform it into a personal and collective narrative through image, sound, and digital media.

The Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED), firmly supporting audiovisual education, cultural heritage, and the creative use of audiovisual media in education, participated this year once again as a member of the Competition’s Jury and as co-organizer, together with the Educational Radio and Television (EduTV) of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports, the General State Archives, the National Library of Greece, the Department of Archives, Library Science and Museology of the Ionian University, and the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.

The aim of the Competition is to encourage research in archives and cultural memory institutions, as well as children’s creative expression through audiovisual and digital media. At the same time, it seeks to develop audiovisual and information literacy skills and to bring students into contact with the historical memory, archives, and cultural heritage of their local communities.

Student groups from primary and secondary schools presented films, digital creations, and podcasts, exploring neighborhoods, buildings, monuments, personal testimonies, and people’s stories in search of the traces that shape the identity of each place.

  • “The History of the School for the Deaf in Thessaloniki”, Special Primary School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Students of Panorama — 1st Prize in the Primary School Film Category

The Competition “Your Story Is the Story of Your City” connects audiovisual creation with research and the use of historical and archival sources. Through this process, the city becomes a field for observation, discovery, and creation, while history is transformed into a living narrative seen through the eyes of children.

The Award Ceremony will take place at the Book Tower of the National Library of Greece on Monday, 9 November 2026.

Warm congratulations to all the students and teachers who participated in the Competition and shared the stories of their cities through their creative works!
