Introducing Ekome
Vision and Mission
Our Vision
Audiovisual creation today stands at the intersection of culture, technology and the economy.
EKKOMED’s vision is for Greece to be a dynamic place for creation, production, innovation and international collaboration: a country that supports its creators, attracts ideas, talent and investment from around the world, and transforms creativity into a force for cultural and economic development.
We want more Greek stories to find their way to the screen and to international audiences. More international productions to choose Greece. More emerging creators to have access to the opportunities, skills and tools they need to develop their work. And technology and innovation to open new paths for audiovisual creation.
At the same time, we invest in preserving and showcasing Greece’s film and audiovisual memory, connecting the heritage of Greek cinema with the future of creation.
Our Mission
We support creation and the people behind it, connecting culture, technology and the economy and creating the conditions for more ideas to be born and developed in Greece — and to travel around the world.
Supporting Greek creativity. Opening pathways to the world.
EKKOMED implements Greece’s public policy for the development of the film and audiovisual creative sector.
Our mission is built around five key areas:
Creation, Funding & International Reach
We design and manage funding instruments, schemes and initiatives supporting the development, production, promotion and distribution of Greek film and audiovisual works. We strengthen the international presence of Greek works and creators and attract international productions and investment to Greece.
People, Skills & Sustainable Development
We develop initiatives for education, training and skills development, film and audiovisual literacy, social inclusion, sustainable filmmaking, and regional cultural development and cohesion.
Technology, Innovation & Protection of Creation
Through Creative Hub GR, we support research and technological innovation, connect audiovisual technology with different forms of art and creativity, and encourage the development of new applications and tools. We also develop initiatives to combat online, technological and other forms of piracy.
Film & Audiovisual Heritage
We implement national policy for the preservation, restoration, documentation, digitisation and promotion of Greece’s film and audiovisual cultural heritage and develop and operate the National Digital Repository of Audiovisual Works.
Public Policy & Cultural Diplomacy
We collect and analyse data, monitor developments in Greece and internationally, and support the Greek Government and the Ministry of Culture in designing and monitoring public policy for the film and audiovisual creative sector. We also contribute to Greece’s cultural diplomacy within EKKOMED’s areas of responsibility.
