At a warm and moving ceremony held on Sunday, May 18, as part of the 1st International Festival of Philosophy & Film “CINEphil 101” in Heraklion, Crete, the awards of the 1st Student Short Film Competition “Young Cine-philosophers” were announced, under the theme: “Comforting Lies, Uncomfortable Truths.”
The competition, organized by the Department of Philosophy of the University of Crete, was carried out in collaboration with the Department of Digital Arts and Cinema of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center – Creative Greece, the He.art association, and the Panagiotis and Efi Michelis Foundation.

Both the theme of this year’s competition and the overall endeavor managed to highlight the power of youth creativity in a demanding and complex field—one where the major challenges of our generation meet critical thinking and artistic sensitivity.
The Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center – Creative Greece, represented by Katerina Virvidaki, participated in the competition’s Jury Committee and actively supported the initiative, emphasizing the unique momentum audiovisual education has developed in our country in recent years, as well as the role of HFAC’s Creative Hub GR within this context.
Our organization will continue to support initiatives in audiovisual, film, and creative education for students, educators, and the entire school community, with the aim of strengthening and ultimately establishing expanded learning skills in Media Literacy and Cultural Creativity in Education.

- “Comfortably” – Kompoti Middle School of Arta (Jury Award)
