The Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center supported the 28th Olympia International Film Festival for Children and Young People, a longstanding institution for children’s and youth cinema for nearly thirty years in Europe and the world.

EKKOMED participated in the 3rd International Meeting on Film Education and national policies where the Director of Education and Heritage Unit, Irene Andriopoulou presented EKKOMED’s initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills of young creators, training educators, and developing programs that promote audiovisual and film literacy at the European roundtable on education.

EKKOMED was also part of the Evaluation Committee of “The Olympia Effect” initiative, which seeks to support Greek filmmakers at all stages of their films’ journeys, alongside representatives from ERT and the Thessaloniki International Film Festival. Ilias Tasopoulos, @CINEDU platform’s project manager, presented the Olympia Effect pitching award to “Chernobyl”, by Elen Stergiopoulou and Irida Baglanea, featuring an 11-year-old girl experiencing an identity crisis, for its sensitive handling of themes such as acceptance and bullying. The award, sponsored by EKKOMED, includes a prize of €3,000.

EKKOMED continues to support initiatives that promote media and film education, foster young people’s creativity, and contribute to the international visibility of Greek audiovisual production.
