The Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Centre, within the framework of its strategic role in overseeing and supporting the domestic film market, announces the launch of a regular weekly publication of nationwide cinema attendance statistics.
Starting this Friday, and every Friday thereafter, the aggregated ticket data for the fifteen (15) top-performing films of the week will be published on the organisation’s official website under the section “Box Office”.
This initiative aims to provide timely, consistent, and transparent information to industry professionals and the public, ensuring data accuracy in line with European guidelines on the dissemination of statistical information. The data is collected directly from Distribution Companies, which collaborate closely with the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Centre to ensure the most reliable representation of the market.
With a view to ensuring completeness of coverage, the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Centre invites any organisations or distribution companies that do not currently report their film results and wish to be included in the official tracking system to contact: distribution@ekkomed.gr
In the coming days, the Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Centre will also proceed with the publication of the annual results for the years 2024 and 2025. The report will include:
- Comparative analysis between the years, including percentage changes
- Detailed statistical breakdowns by country of origin and film genre
The systematic mapping of box office performance constitutes an essential tool for drawing reliable conclusions regarding market trends and for shaping effective policies to support theatrical exhibition.
