The Hellenic Film and Audiovisual Center (EKKOMED) is participating as a co-organiser in the 1st Film Education Festival “Movie Making Magic”, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen film and audiovisual literacy and foster a meaningful connection between cinema and education.
The Festival is organised by Pefki Film Club, in collaboration with the Municipality of Lykovrysi–Pefki and the General Secretariat for Communication and Information, under the auspices of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports and the Region of Attica.
From 12 to 16 October, the Pefki Municipal Theatre and other venues across the Municipality of Lykovrysi–Pefki will host Film Education Week, bringing together students from Primary and Secondary Education and teachers for a programme that places cinema at the heart of creative learning.
Through screenings, workshops and hands-on activities, participants will explore cinema both as an art form and as a powerful medium for creative expression, collaboration and learning.
From Ideas to Film
A central part of the Festival is the creation of short films by student groups from schools across Attica. Supported by educational materials in collaboration with Karpos Audiovisual Education Center, participating groups have taken their projects from the initial idea through to the finished film.
The films are submitted via the Festival’s dedicated digital platform and evaluated by the school community. Those selected will advance to the final stage of the Festival.
Filmmaking as a Learning Experience
The programme gives students the opportunity to explore different aspects of filmmaking, experiment with the expressive language of cinema and develop their ideas through collaborative creative work.
Film workshops and school screenings provide a space for students to engage with cinema from both creative and critical perspectives, while encouraging close observation, creative expression and a more attentive engagement with the moving image.
